Principal’s Message

Innovating Oneself

What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. In every walk of life we want the best. We speak about the best restaurant, the best travel, the best attire, the best place to go for a holiday and so on. So what do we really mean by the best?

Think of a person who sits down to play the piano for the first time. All he or she can do is play some discordant notes. As one plays, there is no harmony, no balance and no real tune; one hits all the wrong notes. The player eventually gets fed up with this disharmony, lack of joy and lack of beauty and decides to go to a teacher. The teacher says, ‘you have the ability to play, but you need to understand music.’ Similarly each one of us has the ability to play the game of life with balance, harmony and joy but we need to know the rules and the principles to be the best that we can be in order to become the best that we can be.

Thomas Edison who lived for 84 years patented an impressive 1093 inventions. Considering his first invention was at the age of 22 in the year 1869, what was impressive is that he made a lot of mistakes and learnt a lot of lessons from them. When his friend asked him one day, “When are you going to retire?” he said, “I am not satisfied with what I have achieved, I am waiting for the best to come”.

The person who invented the telephone then did not realize how wonderful the instrument would be today. Today we have a very slim mobile phone from which we can speak, listen to music, send short messages, take photographs, store images and do a lot of things including calculations and fixing appointments. This is nothing less than the great innovation that has taken place over the years. If we want to “Be the best that we can be” then we need to be innovative at all times.

As human beings, hope is the cornerstone of our lives. Hope that we will do well in life. Life should began exciting adventure for us. The sun should rise within us each day in terms of the richness of our feelings and the sharpness of our perceptions. We should carve our goals for ourselves that will inspire us to do enthusiastic actions. We humans are created by god with the same potential but what we do with it, will depend on what we actually become in our life. The theme “Be the best that you can be” is a challenge for the Louisans to believe that you possess the potential and make use of that potential by being innovative at all times in your life.

A word of gratitude to the managing committee, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff and student community for all your support. Kudos to the editorial team and the contributors of this magazine. This edition of Luminous Louisian 2017-18 showcases our desire to “BE THE BEST THAT WE CAN BE”.
